5V’s of Big Data

Big Data: Big Data is a systematic manner of handling huge amount of data as well as managing data when created at high speed. The bulky data also requires a system like any others and hence a system called Big Data has been formed to catch, store and analyze them effectively. The very new concept of Big Data is now becoming viral in almost all fields starting from science to business which can encounter manufacturing, retails, education, government, biomedicines, telecommunication and many more. Big Data Ecosystem (BDE) includes all the major technical components and facilities that are required by the Big Data for analyzing and working synchronously.

Big Data has a 5V property that includes: Volume, Velocity, Variety, Value and Veracity. Out of the 5Vs stated, Volume, Velocity and Variety are the original property of the Big Data whereas the other two that is Value and Veracity are possessed. Data Dynamicity (Variability) and Linkage can be further added to its properties. Volume indicates the data collection from a number of source while transactions, deals, suffering through social media. Earlier the storage of these data would be a headache but now the Hadoop concept has relieved the pain. Velocity means the speed at which the data is getting streamed. As the data that are collected are of various types like emails, text documents, videos hence referred as Variety.
